That’s right, one thousand horsepower on pump gas! John Hennessey, president of Hennessey Performance has done it again. He’s taken Chevy’s 2010 Camaro and turned it into a rocket. He joins Courtney on Powerblock September 11 & 12. It all starts with a Hennessey CarbonAero body kit. Under the hood you’ll find a 427 twin turbo engine that makes 1000 horses on pump gas and 1200 horses on race gas. 0 to 60 in about 3 seconds. It sticks to the ground courtesy the body package and Pirelli P-Zero tires on all four corners and Brembo 6 piston calipers and 15’ rotors to stop it. It’s a beautifully restored 1948 Ford F-100 that’s been blown and fuel injected. It not only has the chops in the horsepower department but also in style. At the 2009 Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY it was 1 of 3 selected out of a field of 12,000 by PPG for Outstanding Use of Color and crowned “Painted Jewel”. Owners Paul & Carol Gerritsen started with a sad black truck that Paul had bought online. After 4 years of hard work it was an award winner. The frame has been fully boxed and kicked. The top has been chopped 4”. It has suicide doors and a leather interior with matching rear bed with leather and carpet. The power comes from a Ford 460 with a BDS Blower that makes 542 horsepower. It sits on Schott Wheels and Mickey T rubber. The color is PPG Khaki over Kiwi with Pearl. It’s on Powerblock September 4 & 5.

You have to see the smooth as butter Italian leather interior in this ’56 Chevy Bel Air. Built by Jeff Page and his team at Heartland Customs in Purcell, Oklahoma, it was a 13 month complete frame off nut and bolt restoration. It starts with an Art Morrison chassis with coil over suspension. It has custom inner fenders with hinge pockets and all the AC and heater lines are hidden inside. They dropped in a Corvette LS-3 450 horsepower engine. It sits on Intro Wheels with Toyo Tires; 17” front, 18” rear. The paint color is a PPG Black Sapphire Metallic. Heartland Customs specializes in transforming a classic vehicle with a modern makeover and the Saddle Italian leather interior was headed up by Kyle Hix. All the machining, fabricating and stitching was done in-house. It’s one beautiful interior for one gorgeous car.

Yes this is one smokin’ hot rod named “Smokin’ Bones”. It’s a ’33 three window coupe that makes 700 horsepower courtesy of a big block Chevy 454 that’s been bored .030 to 460. It has a Weiand 8-71 supercharger with Edelbrock aluminum heads. Owner and builder Paul Shauck was inspired by the classic hot roads of the ‘60’s like the Mooneyham & Sharp 554. Paul just wanted a simple, lightweight body with a big, bad, blown injected big block that would go fast. He built it in 4 years. The color is PPG Scarlett Red. The guys at Holley Performance describe themselves as Gearheads who love LS engines. So this weekend on Powerblock Holley president Tom Tomlinson will announce the first ever Holley LS Fest to be held September 10th – 12th in Bowling Green, Kentucky at Beech Bend Raceway Park. It’s a celebration of everything and anything LS. There will be drag racing, autocross, a speed stop challenge, a show-n-shine and an engine swap challenge; winner keeps the engine! The ’67 Chevy shop truck was Tom’s vision and built by the team at SoCal. It has an LS-3 that makes 480 horsepower. It has Holley’s new HP EFI system that is available with a wiring harness for LS engines. If there’s a Cadillac of rock racers this may be it! Owner John Galbreath wanted a rock racer based on the lines of a ’38 Model-A pickup truck, but it had to have the fit and finish of a street rod. So he turned to Adam Woodlee of Wide Open Design in Murfreesboro, TN, who joins Courtney this weekend. Adam and his crew married the two forms together; a rock racer and a ’38 truck from the bottom up. It includes a 480 horsepower LS-6, a Turbo 350 Trans, Atlas transfer case, coil-over shocks and 39” BFG’s. There are subtle touches like shifters topped off with ’38 shotgun shell casings. The body work is amazing and the result is truly a one of a kind high end crawler. Adam also races what he builds. He finished 7th last year in the King of the Hammers race.

This 1957 Chevy Wagon Bel Air Townsman is owned by the husband-wife team of Martin Advertising; Zan & Randy Martin. Hence the name Zandy Wagon. Only 27,000 were made. They found the car over four years ago and turned it over to Jacob Miles of Milestone Custom Paint & Body of Mt. Juliet, TN. Jacob and his crew took a partially restored wagon and turned it into a dream car. It pops with Volkswagen “Match Stick Reuben Red”. It has a five speed American Power Train transmission with a Chevy 350 that makes 400 horsepower. The wagon has been lowered 3” in the front and 2” in the rear. It has a DVD, TV, 10 disc CD changer and can run a laptop on the TV. The tailgate has a special sponsor collage of some of Martin Advertising’s clients. It’s on Powerblock July 31 & August 1. Five tons of monster truck excitement comes to Powerblock July 24 & 25. Dennis Anderson is here with Grave Digger and that 540 cubic inch, blown, fuel injected on alcohol big block engine that makes a monstrous 1450 horsepower! Digger is a 1950 Chevy Panel Van with 66” Terra Tires that are 43” wide. It has nitrogen shock absorbers with 26” of travel. Dennis is a 4 time Monster Jam champion and part of Magnaflow’s team of racers. Dennis will talk about his involvement with Magnaflow and how Grave Digger got its name and one of a kind graphics.
