Ringbrother’s Razor!

March 30th, 2009 | Category: Camaro, Courtney, Great Builds

You’re looking at the 2008 Street Machine of the Year and the 2008 Mothers Shine Award Winner. It’s a ’69 Camaro transformed by Mike and Jim Ring called Razor. It’s unlike any Camaro you’ve ever seen! Owners Erv and Bonnie Woller gave Ringbrothers, a Wisconsin based company, a free hand to do whatever they wanted and this is the result! It’s powered by a Ram Jet ZL1. There isn’t much that the Rings left untouched on the car; one-off custom interior and exterior pieces, the front and rear ends, the flush mounted glass, the door handles and all the body lines have the Ringbrothers’ touch.  Their motto is “redefining the classics” and they outdid themselves on this one! Plus they build parts for classic cars like hood hinges, hood pins that adjust to angles and billet reservoirs that replace plastic ones on clutch assemblies. Check out Ringbrothers.com for more on their specialty parts and amazing gallery of projects. You can see Razor on The PowerBlock April 4th & 5th.

Dust Up!

March 23rd, 2009 | Category: Courtney, Plymouth, Projects, muscle cars

This 1970 Plymouth Duster is a story about a car that’s been passed down from one generation to the next. Original owner Skip Causey bought it and raced it for several years. Then it sat in the backyard under a tarp for almost ten years! His son Chuck, a former Army helicopter mechanic decided to restore it. With his Dad’s help along with his friends and family, he spent the next ten years bringing it back to this. It has a beautiful driveway paint job and a hand built 440 with Indy Max Wedge port heads. Check it out on The PowerBlock March 29th!

’70 Ford Torino Cobra

March 16th, 2009 | Category: Courtney, Engines, HorsePower, News, Performance, Special Guest, ford

It’s a matching numbers ’70 Torino with a Cobra Jet 429 that makes a conservative 375 horses. It’s a four speed with shaker hood that you’ll need to see the before picture on The PowerBlock this weekend to understand how far this car has come back from. Al Morgan and the team at Mid Southern Restorations in Cookeville, Tennessee did one heck of a job! Everything is original except the starter, water pump and carburetor. Plus we’ll salute another Hero of High Performance this weekend; Vic Edelbrock. His name is synonymous with high performance and Joe Elmore will talk in-depth with Vic this weekend March 21st & 22nd.

G8 Tows A Boat!

March 02nd, 2009 | Category: Boats, Courtney, Performance, Pontiac

Yes… this Pontiac G8 can tow a 3,500lb boat and trailer! A first on The PowerBlock as Courtney has a car and a boat in the shop. This G8 has been modified by the guys at Gravana Tuning to be able to tow this new Christ Craft Lancer GT and they match! A tranny cooler, Magnuson supercharger, JBA headers and Magnaflow catback exhaust increase horsepower an extra 100 ponies. It’s also all 50 state legal. H & R springs with sway bars and urethane brushings are 25% more aggressive and keep the ride smooth. Baer brakes with 6 pistons and 14” rotors bring the whole package to a stop. Surprisingly, this G8 gets almost 3% better fuel economy than stock while towing.

The 2010 Chris Craft Lancer GT is no slouch either. The Mercury engine package comes with a 377 Magnum that makes about 325 horsepower! Enough to easily hit 70mph on the water! The EZ Loader trailer is made out of aluminum to lighten the load and the Lancer should be available in showrooms late summer 2009. The whole concept was for GM, Gravana Tuning and Chris Craft to team up and prove that you didn’t need a truck or SUV to tow a boat. Check it out on The PowerBlock March 7th & 8th.
