Girls, Trucks & Boats!

Nothing beats a beautiful host, truck and boat all in one picture! This weekend Courtney has a 1955 Chevy 3100 and matching 1959 Tomahawk Ski Mate in her shop. Both are painted in Viper Red. Owner Mickey Collier found the truck three years ago, just blocks away from where he grew up. He turned to Joe Towe of Classic Cars in Hendersonville, TN where the truck was media blasted and was in far worse condition than they originally thought. They did a frame off resto and it now sits on an ’84 Chevy frame. He dropped in a 350 crate motor and a 350 transmission. The Tomahawk boat was in equally bad shape. Mickey spent 4 months restoring the fiberglass boat back to ship shape condition. It has a 40 horsepower, ’59 Johnson Super Seahorse motor and a steering wheel from a ’59 Impala! Check it all out on The PowerBlock October 3rd & 4th.

No commentsJay Leno’s PowerBlock Muscle Car Tour
Your TV would have to be broken to not have seen the commercials for Jay Leno’s return to NBC on Sept. 14. The celebrated comedian’s all new show airs weeknights at 10 p.m. eastern and pacific. Who knows how different his new show will be from the Tonight Show, but we hear that Jay is sure to weave some of his passion for cars into the fun – and for car enthusiasts, (like me) that’s a good thing.
While everyone knows Jay Leno as a great comedian and entertainer, we car guys appreciate him for another reason – his personal passion and true automotive credibility as a car collector. While the world is full of pseudo-celebrities whose only credentials are the ready cash to buy expensive performance cars, few can back it up with real knowledge about the cars they own. Not so with Leno, who is a student of the cars he collects. Best of all, he drives his cars, all of his cars, in regular rotation. It’s not a museum - it is his personal garage.
This month, PowerBlock, The Magazine (www.powerblockmag.com) was lucky enough to have Jay take us on a private tour of his collection of American muscle cars. As narrated by Leno (you can hear him in sound clips embedded into the digital magazine article) he walks us through each car ranging from his ‘70 Dodge Challenger Hemi to his 200mph plus Pratt & Miller Z06 Corvette. Each car is a story, entertainingly told by Leno himself laced with honest, personal, critical and sometimes comedic commentary about these blisteringly fast machines from the golden age of classic power and today. Thanks Jay.
